Meet our Founders
At the helm of Nolk are veteran entrepreneurs with $500M+ in cumulative exits and who hold vast experience in all steps of the business process, from startup to execution at scale. At their core, our founders are passionate architects who want to build relationships and brands of value.
Alex brings to the table 20+ years of experience within the technology and entrepreneurial ecosystem of Montreal and is known for making things happen by effectively managing business complexities. Alex began his career in advertising and web development and was a key figure in growing the Montreal video game and visual effects industry through his work with Autodesk, Ubisoft and Electronic.
In 2012, he joined PremiumBeat as COO and led the integration of the music and video business unit following the acquisition by Shutterstock. As CEO of Nolk, Alex builds and scales the next generation of eCommerce brands and proprietary technologies with forward-thinking management practices.
Active in the startup world, he sits on the board of DesignStripe and is a managing partner at Arbour & Renaud Capital where he adds value in early stage investment through mentorship.
With over 20+ years of experience in technology and marketing, Francois is an industry veteran and passionate innovator. Starting his career in advertising, he pioneered the use of animations within the marketing sphere and worked on award-winning initiatives with Cossette, Bell and Sid Lee.
An active entrepreneur, Francois is known for constructing space-disrupting brands and building value through well-designed products.
He co-founded PremiumBeat in 2005, Nolk in 2018, and is an active angel investor for 60+ start-ups.
Fun fact about Francois: at PremiumBeat, he sold music to Barack Obama, Tesla, NASA and Facebook (amongst many others)!
An expert in scaling tech-centric startups, Josh brings a quantitative and technology-driven perspective to Nolk's M&A activities and data-driven initiatives such as GeniusWire. He is highly adept at creating best-in-breed technologies from a culture of experimentation and ingenuity.
Aside from his role within Nolk, Josh is also the founder and managing partner at BoxOne Ventures, an asset management firm whose VC activities are focused on early stage companies across several sectors including fintech, applied ML/AI, synthetic biology/biotech, crypto/decentralized finance.
He is also the cofounder at Nascent, a global, multi-strategy investment firm focused on crypto and open finance.
